A new THINK! ‘Tales of the Road’ campaign has been launched by Mike Penning, the road safety minister.
The campaign – for children aged between 6 and 11 – kicked off with ‘The girl who didn’t dress bright in the dark’, which will run during family friendly films in cinemas until 5 January.
‘The boy who didn’t look for a safe place to cross’ and ‘The boy who didn’t stop, look and listen’ will run on children’s television channels from 17 October to 27 November.
To support the campaign, ‘Jazzy’ exercise books have been delivered to around 1,500 schools in child road accident ‘hot spot’ areas.
Each of the campaign strands will direct children and their parents to the ‘Tales of the Road’ website, where they can find road safety advice, play games and watch the Tales of the Road films.
Regional PR activity will be carried out during the week prior to the clocks going back on 29 October.
Any RSOs who are interested in acting as a spokesperson for Tales of the Road should contact Glyn Robinson.

Not sure what others think, but my own kids are a mix of puzzled by the “Tales” campaign. Plus anything that they perceive as a bit arty, “dark” and a little scary is immediately a mental switch-off. Thumbs down from my household.
