TyreSafe has relaunched its ‘PACT’ bikers’ safety campaign and is making resources available free of charge to encourage tyre retailers, bike dealerships and road safety professionals to participate.

Running as part of Bike Safety Month 2013 (April-May), PACT (Performance, Air pressure, Condition and Tread) is the central theme in a range of posters and other promotional materials which are now available to help raise awareness about the importance of looking after bike tyres.

The campaign encourages riders to make a PACT with their tyres in order to get the best performance from their bike in terms of  improved handling, grip or fuel economy.

The campaign also includes a range of resources to help riders understand the benefits, importance and simplicity of regular tyre maintenance. These include an infographic poster which promote free tyre safety checks, and leaflets explaining what riders should do to get the most from their machines.

The campaign is backed by top British SuperBike championship riders, including past supporter Chris Walker.

Stuart Jackson, TyreSafe chairman, said: “At this time of year, many bikers will be heading out for their first ride of the year after leaving their bikes in storage over the winter.

“It’s critical that before doing so, their tyres are given a thorough inspection to make sure they’re safe and legal. The trade has a crucial role to play in helping achieve this and we look forward once again to receiving some fantastic levels of support and local initiatives from retailers.”

Road safety officers who would like to support the campaign can order free materials from TyreSafe on 0845 3016852 or: www.tyresafe.org.
