Road Safety GB London is to deliver a drug driving awareness workshop for road safety professionals on the back of new drug driving legislation being introduced in early March.
The workshop will be held in central London on 16 April, and be led by Liam Watson from Drugs Training.com, an independent agency providing training for professional groups on a wide range of drug issues.
The workshop will cover topics including: the latest trends in drug use; the prevalence of ‘drug driving’ and the effects of drugs on driving; the new drug driving laws that come into force on 2 March 2015; how the police will be detecting illegal drugs; and issues relating to prescription drugs and the law
The programme will include presentations from the Metropolitan Police Service and Natasha and Michaela Groves, the mother and aunt of Lillian Groves who, since her death in 2010, have campaigned tirelessly to introduce ‘Lillian’s Law’ and roadside drug testing.
Carol Walker, administrator for Road Safety GB London Region, said: “Places are limited but we have some available for road safety practitioners outside London.
“We’ve timed the workshop to take place the day after Young Driver Focus 2015 which is being held in London on 15 April, to enable people from outside London to consider staying over and attending this workshop.”
The delegate fee for the workshop is £95 (no VAT). Contact Carol Walker for more details or to book to attend.
Stuart:
This Workshop is being delivered by the London Region and aided by Transport for London and although there may be another one arranged later in the year we envisage that this will also be in London. We are offering it to other regions as some are sending delegates to the Young Driver Focus 2015 and we thought that they may like to stay over in London to take advantage of this workshop. Liam Watson from Drug training.com is contactable to arrange another one closer to your region, but London would not be able to deliver it.

As part of our RS education we provide sessions on drug drive education and would find it very useful to attend this presentation. However as it is in April our diaries are fully booked.
Two questions. Is it possible to have a repeat presentation sometime later in the year, and could that be held somewhere north of Birmingham? We are all under tighter belts and although the presentation is only £95 the cost of travel can be restrictive to our budgets.
