Pupils in Sefton on Merseyside are being introduced to ‘injury survivors’ who warn them about the potential perils of the road.
The initiative is part of the ‘Smartrisk Heroes’ road safety show, which is currently on its third tour of the area to deliver safety messages to all year groups.
As part of the show pupils are introduced to the ‘injury survivors’ who talk candidly about how their road injuries have altered their lives.
Using loud rock music and fast moving images on a large screen, five smart risk strategies are emphasised to the pupils; buckle up, look first, wear the gear, get trained and drive sober.
